2 weeks!

On day 14 of "my quit". Just wanted to *wave* and say I'm still doing well.

It's really nice when I realize I haven't thought about smoking for a couple hours or so. My 'craves' are pretty infrequent.

Tomorrow (if I get to the store tonight), i go down a dose in patch. Which is scary, but exciting. I'll be really happy when I have no more nicotine dependence.

So hurrah! For two weeks..

It's funny, for me, the sense of smell being enhanced happened at about Day 11. It was overwhelming and amazing! Everything smells so. much richer and pungent.

Way to go and congrats. I recently quite and am on day 9 with no cigs! I am using the patch and my symptoms mirror yours almost to a T. Good luck and keep it going.

Here is a copy of my goodbye letter to Ciggy.

June 17, 2008

Dear Ciggy,

I’m not sure how to begin so I will just try being direct.

Ciggy, the bottom line is that we can no longer be friends, period, the end, finito, etc! Sure we’ve had our good times and yes you have always been there for me. You have been my constant companion, and have come to my rescue on more occasions than I care admit. Feeling happy, you were there. Feeling down, you were there. Ready to celebrate, you were there. You helped me during my formative years by making me cool and helping me fit in. You helped take the edge off my insecurity as a young businessman. You even helped me meet my wife which I can say is the best thing that ever happened to me.

The reason I have to call our friendship quits is because the reality is that you have never really been a friend to me at all. Would a friend make you stink like a rotting cesspool? Would a friend increase your chances of catching an incurable and deadly disease? Would a friend actually make you pay thousands of dollars just to be your friend and hang out you? Would a friend discolor your teeth, hurt your lungs, put a strain on your heart? Would a friend ruin your furniture and your car by stinking it up? Would a friend work to keep other interesting people away from you that were not a friend of Ciggy? The answer to all these questions is an obvious NO! I am sure you get the picture now and how I feel.

Ciggy, I leave you with this. Yes! I do regret being your friend and being stupid enough not to see you for what and who you really are! My regret is already turning into an enormous source of power generated by the achievement of dropping you like a bad habit. I am sure I will think of you from time to time but I will never be your friend again. Goodbye and good riddance!

Sincerely,

Rick
